Why focus on Inland Waterway Transport?
Inland waterway transport (IWT) is a reliable, climate-friendly and the least expencive transport alternatives for all types of commodities.
The energy input tonnes per kilometer (t/km) is superior to rail and road transport.

Inland Waterway Transport in Africa
- Africa is endowed with a number of rivers and lakes that have great potential of being inexpensive, energy-efficient and environment-friendly inland waterways.
- Africa Strong Boat will lead the industry to open new waterways and create and build locally tailor-made canoes, boats, ferries, barges and solutions that meet the needs of IWT in Africa.
Services
- ASB can offer a wide range of services in the engineering, infrastructure, projects, education and operations sectors.
- Our primary focus is maximising the potential of IWT, but we are equally comfortable in supplying tailor-made seagoing vessels.
- It is our belief that the equipment alone is never enough. In order to succeed, a team is required to make sure that the whole system works together and that the equipment is operating within an eco-system where there is training, support, maintenance, planning and management throughout the life cycle.
- ASB has a global team of professional consultants in various fields that can be called on depending on the project requirements.
- No matter what you are trying to achieve, if it is in Africa and maritime related, we are interested

- ASB together with our partners Rhino Marine & Wale Marine (https://www.rhinomarineboats.com) has developed a Modular Barge System (MBS) based on environmentally friendly High-Density Polyethlene (HDPE) that we are about to start making at our workshop outside Juba, South Sudan.
- HDPE is a recyclable material and it is almost indestructible. It has great buoyancy property meaning it can carry heavy loads.
- This clever modular barge system allows us to assemble them anywhere near a river, lake, or ocean where you have road access for containers.
- It workes like a 'blank canvas' and it is up to the clients how they want it designed according to there use.
